Particpants across all functions and locations collectively moved more than 1 million kilometres as part of an employee engagement campaign.
The initiative, which kicked off in January, saw Bridgestone employees choose cancer prevention as its central cause, as the disease affects everyone directly or indirectly at one point in their lives. Employees could collect kilometres through walking, cycling or another physical activity – even gardening counted. In addition, monthly challenges and health and fitness advice incentivised employees to participate. An easy-to-use web platform allowed employees to log the kilometres they collected.
Bridgestone is a proud Worldwide Olympic partner. This partnership builds on its history of longstanding support for sport. The intiative was also set up to raise awareness around this partnership and to ignite the Olympic spirit and culture amongst Bridgestone employees.
By promoting a healthy lifestyle and supporting the communities in which its employees live and work, Bridgestone’s sustainability commitment ‘Our Way to Serve’ has been fittingly brought to life. The campaign’s success has inspired Bridgestone to continue to encourage its employees and collect even more kilometres in the coming year.
Martha White, Chief Human Resources and CSR Officer, Bridgestone EMEA said: “We are a proud Worldwide Olympic partner and this initiative sparks the Olympic spirit in our employees, promotes a healthy lifestyle, and raises money for a good cause. It’s also forms an integral part of our sustainability commitment of ‘Our Way to Serve’ which focuses on improving the way people move, live, work and play.”
