Bridgestone is back on the slopes for more top ski action this winter

Supporting its drive to boost winter safety, Bridgestone - the world’s n° 1 tyre and rubber manufacturer - takes its sponsorship of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup into a fifth exciting season.

Snow has come early to the Alps this year and Bridgestone is ready for the new Audi FIS World Cup alpine skiing season which breaks on 24th October.

Supporting its range of Blizzak premium winter tyres, Bridgestone will sponsor no less than 38 world cup events in seven countries this 2015/2016 season, starting with the Men’s and Ladies’ Giant Slalom in Sölden, Austria on 24th and 25th October.

Spectators and millions of TV viewers across Europe will see the Bridgestone name on start huts, slalom gate flags, competitors’ bibs, piste-side panels and finish lines.

Promotional stands will support the brand at selected events, as will the famous Bridgestone “rubber skier” sculpture – made exclusively from used tyres - symbol of Bridgestone’s commitment to the sport.

Winter safety message

Sponsorship of the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup is the winter arm of Bridgestone’s EU safety campaign which stresses the vital role of tyres – as the “only safety system of your car that actually touches the road”. A TV spot with this message is currently being broadcast in Germany, Poland and France  in support of the company’s ski sponsorship. To reinforce this spot during the winter season, when tyre grip is more important than ever, Bridgestone has developed a demonstration stand which will be used at selected world cup ski events.

Through TV coverage of Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup events, Bridgestone aims to continue building brand awareness across Europe, leveraging the sponsorship in local markets to promote the superior performance of Bridgestone premium winter tyres, as proven consistently in Europe’s most respected independent tyre tests.

In addition the sponsorship package also includes some VIP Hospitality programmes, enabling Bridgestone Group companies to invite  customers and end-users to the races.

Change to winter time – change to winter tyres!

The start of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season also marks the moment for European motorists to make the switch to winter tyres. As consumers increasingly recognise, compared to summer tyres, winter tyres provide vastly superior braking, handling and safety in all types of winter conditions. And in snow, internal and external testing repeatedly demonstrates that the braking distance of summer tyres can be almost three times longer than  winter tyres!
