With innovative AirFree recyclable tyres, newly-developed “ologic” tyres for the all-electric i3, and its latest fuel efficient Ecopia tyres, the Bridgestone booth is firmly focused on sustainability at the 84th Geneva International Motor Show, 4th to 16th March.
An LCD screen at the rear of the 300m² booth explains Bridgestone’s commitment to a sustainable society and presents the technologies, products and measures being taken to achieve the goals.
“Sustainability is at the heart of Bridgestone’s long-term vision and this year at Geneva we want to showcase some of the exciting advances the company is making. From the AirFree concept to the new EP500, we will be showing sustainable technologies for the future and for now.” says Jake Rønsholt, Director Corporate & Brand Communications, Bridgestone Europe.
New ologic technology
Star of the stand is the revolutionary i3 all-electric car equipped with Bridgestone Ecopia EP500 ologic tyres, introduced in November 2013. Bridgestone developed this unique “ologic” technology first applied with BMW to produce a tyre that complements the efficiency and performance of i3. These new ologic tyres capitalize on the synergies of a large diameter and narrow tread design to provide improved aerodynamics and rolling resistance, while still delivering top-level grip, particularly in the wet.
Innovative AirFree concept
Jumping to the future, a Toyota concept kart on the stand is fitted with Bridgestone 2nd generation “Air Free Concept” tyres. This is a fresh, innovative approach to sustainability with a non-pneumatic tyre made of recyclable materials. With improved load-bearing capabilities and lower rolling resistance, this 2nd generation prototype drives the concept nearer to commercial use.
Premium tyres with added value
In the heart of the stand are Bridgestone’s current premium winter and summer tyres. Bridgestone now has a complete winter tyre line-up, for all car models and types of European winter conditions, and leads its display at Geneva with the brand-new Blizzak LM001 lamellen tyre. Not only does Blizzak LM001 outperform its predecessor, itself winner of tyre-test rankings, it also improves fuel economy and CO2 emissions due to its reduced weight*. Blizzak LM-32s, for powerful cars with large rim sizes, and Blizzak LM-80 EVO for 4x4s and SUVs are also displayed.
The range of summer tyres is led by Ecopia EP001S with low rolling resistance: a significant stride forward in sustainable mobility with top A/A EU label grades (fuel efficiency and wet grip). Also on display: the Turanza T001 premium touring tyre with its advanced safety and efficiency technologies; the Run-Flat Technology version of Bridgestone’s flagship sport tyre, Potenza S001 RFT; and Bridgestone’s urban sporty tyre in the UHP segment, Potenza Adrenalin RE002.
Bridgestone looks forward to welcoming you on the stand: n° 6253, Hall 6. Come and share some of steps we are taking towards a sustainable future!
