Bridgestone recognised by General Motors as 2015 Supplier of the Year

Mar, 18 2016

Bridgestone, the world's leading tyre and rubber company, has been honoured by General Motors (GM) with a 2015 Supplier of the Year award.

The company accepted the award at the 24th annual GM Supplier of the Year awards ceremony held at Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday 10th March.

GM recognised 110 of its best suppliers from 17 countries who have consistently exceeded expectations, created outstanding value, or brought new innovations to the company.

The announcement represented the most suppliers GM has recognised since the inaugural Supplier of the Year event in 1992. This is the 14th time Bridgestone has received the award.

“We are focused on building positive supplier relationships, bringing new, customer-centric innovations to GM, and being the OEM of choice among suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain.

“The companies we recognise tonight not only have brought innovation, they delivered it with the quality our customers deserve.”

Christophe de Valroger, Vice President (OE consumer) Bridgestone Europe NV/SA said “Bridgestone has been a major tyre supplier to Opel/Vauxhall for many years now and was extremely proud to receive such an accolade from GM. It’s a great reflection of the efforts and strong teamwork from all departments across Bridgestone Europe working in partnership with a customer to produce class leading products driven by innovation and technology. We look forward to building on this great customer relationship.”

GM’s 2015 supplier recognition represents a nearly 40 per cent increase in the number of suppliers honoured compared to 79 recipients in 2014. More than half of the suppliers are repeat winners from 2014.

Winning suppliers were chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics executives and selected based on performance criteria in Product Purchasing, Indirect Purchasing, Customer Care and Aftersales, and Logistics.
