City buses and other urban traffic vehicles, such as waste collection trucks are exposed to a violent working life: short turns, frequent stop-and-go’s, curbs, narrow streets, potholes, irregular loads and changing road surface types, imposing specific requirements towards tyre quality and robustness.
In addition, the tyres should cope with passengers’ personal priorities such as safety and comfort, through offering excellent grip on dry and wet roads, as well as stable and silent running.
Compared with its predecessor, the BDU(E), the new Bandag BDU2 delivers up to 20% more life, while its M+S pattern generates excellent traction and braking performance on dry and wet roads, providing truly all-seasons safety. Extra on-board comfort comes with the special low-noise generating pattern design. With their J-speed rating (100 km/h), the BDU2 are also suitable for higher-speed intercity transport.
The BDU2 treads will be available in various widths, allowing to retread the most common casing sizes used within this segment.
“With the new Bandag BDU2, urban fleet operators have now access to one of the most advanced retread products on the market, fulfilling all technical and personal requirements for their demanding application, such as outstanding safety and passenger comfort, superb all-seasons performance, and of course a long tyre life” says Harald Van Ooteghem, Senior Manager Marketing Planning Commercial Business Unit, Bridgestone Europe.
