82nd Geneva International Motor Show 2012

Bridgestone presents new products and surprising new tyre technologies.

New products and tyre technologies dominate on the Bridgestone stand (N° 6352 in Hall 6) this year. Amongst Bridgestone innovations on display are the new Turanza T001 premium touring tyre, the BMW i concept tyre, the award-winning CAIS sensing technology, a revolutionary new tyre printing technology, and the futuristic “air-free” tyre concept.

The 230m² Bridgestone stand is again divided into three zones that show the direction of product development: reliable, economical and futuristic.

Reliable. The left side of the stand features Bridgestone’s top priority – safety – with the European premiere of the all-new Bridgestone Turanza T001 premium touring tyre and a wet-safety demonstrator. A special winter scene highlights two members of the large Blizzak family: Blizzak LM-32 for central European conditions and Blizzak LM-80 for SUVs and CUVs. Nearby, Bridgestone’s Run-Flat Technology most recent modules show visitors how this safety technology can “save your day”.

Economical. On the right-hand side of the stand, Bridgestone presents its latest environment-friendly developments in the Ecopia family: an updated EP150 and an Ecopia prototype tyre, highlighted by the popular “bicycle” demonstrator which shows how low rolling resistance makes travel easier.

Futuristic. The front of the stand presents some of Bridgestone’s latest innovations that will shape the tyres of tomorrow:
-the BMW i concept tyre: developed exclusively by Bridgestone for the new BMW Born Electric vehicle;
-the surprising Tyre Printing Technology which shows how tyres can be coloured and customised to drivers’ tastes;
-the new Bridgestone CAIS (Contact Area Information Sensing) system, winner of the “2012 Tire Technology of the Year Award” which detects changes in road surface conditions;
-and Bridgestone’s futuristic “air-free” tyre concept supporting the vehicle by a system of spokes in a more ecological non-pneumatic tyre.

Bridgestone will hold a press conference on the stand on the 1st press day (6th March) at 2:15 pm during which will be explained how the new Turanza T001 touring tyre meets today’s market requirements, followed by how Bridgestone is developing solutions for tomorrow with the new Tyre Printing Technology.
